As the winter sports program hosted by the Southern Ulster Rotary draws to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on the incredible support and dedication of our community members. It is with immense gratitude that we extend our sincerest thanks to Rotary members Will, Amy Dolores, and Paul for their unwavering commitment to this initiative.

The afterschool winter sports program, featuring basketball and volleyball, has been a beacon of opportunity and growth for elementary-age students in our community. It's not just about sports; it's about fostering teamwork, discipline, and a love for physical activity.

To our coaches and hall monitors, who generously volunteered their time and expertise week after week, we owe a tremendous debt of gratitude. Your dedication to the development of our young athletes has not gone unnoticed, and we are deeply appreciative of the positive impact you've had on their lives.

We also want to extend a special thank you to all the parents who entrusted us with their children's afternoons, bringing them out rain or shine to participate in our programs. Your support and encouragement are invaluable, and we're honored to have had the opportunity to work with such wonderful families.

As the program came to a close last week, the excitement and appreciation were palpable. The volleyball program, in particular, concluded with a memorable visit to SUNY New Paltz, where our young athletes had the incredible opportunity to practice alongside the university's college volleyball team and their coach.

One of the highlights of the day was a special introduction to a SUNY student on the volleyball team who had participated in the Rotary program many years ago. Witnessing the journey of a former participant coming full circle and now excelling at the collegiate level is a testament to the lasting impact of our programs.

The Southern Ulster Rotary Club's afterschool volleyball and basketball program, running from November to March each year, has become a cherished tradition in our community. It provides a supportive environment for children to hone their skills, build confidence, and forge lasting friendships.

As we express our gratitude for another successful season, we also look forward to the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Together, with the continued support of our dedicated members, volunteers, and community partners, we will strive to create even more enriching experiences for the youth of Southern Ulster.

Thank you, once again, to everyone who played a part in making this season a resounding success. Your contributions have made a difference in the lives of our young athletes, and for that, we are truly grateful.
